Graveside services for Starlin Leroy Powell, 67, Norman, will be at
10 a.m. Monday May 18, at Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. David
Klumpp officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Primrose
Funeral Service.
He died Friday May 15, at Norman.
Mr. Powell was born Nov. 25, 1924 to Floyd and Lucy Powell in
Marland. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the
24th Infantry Division during World War II. In 1947, he married Lois
Maxine Owen at Shawnee, and the couple came to Norman in 1956.
She preceded him in death May 10, 1992. A graduate of the University
of Oklahoma, Mr. Powell taught at Norman High School for 25 years,
retiring in 1982.
He is survived by his daughter, Starlene Beahan of Arlington, Texas;
three sisters, Lillie Watts of Norman, Pat Albritton of Mt. Dora, Fla;
ad Maxine Bates of Norman; two brothers, Ernest Powell of Norman
and Bill Powell of Shawnee; and a granddaughter, Alexandra Beahan.
The family has suggested the American Cancer Society Memorial
Program, 3000 United Founders Bldg., Suite 136, Oklahoma City,
73112 as appropriate for memorial contributions.
