Stephen Digby Bell, 52, of Shawnee died Friday, Feb. 21, in a Shawnee nursing home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Shawnee, with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Norman IOOF Cemetery. Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel of Shawnee is handling arrangements.
Mr. Bell was born Oct. 17, 1951, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Digby Bernard and Elsie (Cook) Bell. He lived in Norman most of his life. He graduated from Norman High School and from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in chemical engineering. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was retired from Tinker Air Force Base where he was employed as a chemist. He was a member of the American Philatelic Society.
Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie, who died in 1984, and by his grandparents.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Digby B. and Carol Ann Bell of Shawnee; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Clare Bell of Columbus, Ohio; a step-sister and brother-in-law, Elisabeth and Kenneth Beddow of Pauls Valley; two nephews, David and Thomas Bell of Columbus; and two nieces, Megan Bell of Columbus and Julia Beddow of Pauls Valley.
