Norman woman dies in early-morning fire
A Norman woman was killed in a fire at her trailer home in east Norman early Tuesday morning.
Lynetta Wildes, described as being in her mid-40s, was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire, according to Norman Fire Department officials. Ms. Wildes was the single occupant of the trailer home at 1000 80th Street, located near 80th and East Lindsey.
According to Fire Marshall Bob Sirpless, the fire was reported at 3:31 a.m. by two passers-by. When firefighters arrived minutes later, the trailer was fully involved in flames.
The fire appeared to have originated in a living room area at the north end of the trailer home, where the victim's body was discovered on the floor after the fire was extinguished. The fire is under investigation, but is not believed to have been arson, Sirpless said.
Fifteen fire personnel, three engines and two other vehicles were deployed to the scene. The trailer home was a total loss, with fire damage estimated at $30,000.
