Bruce Christensen passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, after a battle with cancer in Livingston, Mont. Bruce was born May 8, 1951, in St. Paul, Minn., and later moved with his family to Norman in 1953.
He is survived by his son, Andrew Christensen, daughter-in-law Gretchen and granddaughter Rachel Jean, all of Louisville, Ky.; sister, Roseann Sims of Livingston, Mont.; brother, David and sister-in-law Emily Christensen of Plano, Texas; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alvin and Claudia Christensen of Norman.
Bruce graduated from Norman High School in 1969 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. Later, he attended the University of Oklahoma. Bruce was a real estate appraiser and started his career with his father's appraisal service in Norman. He traveled the U.S. and worked in Las Vegas, California, Idaho and the Dallas area until his illness resulted in his retirement in 2009.
Bruce loved the Sooners, traveling the United States and the world, fishing, penny slots and - most of all - engaging anyone he met with interest in their lives and travels. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh and strong opinions.
At Bruce's request, his ashes will be scattered in Norman, his beloved home.
