Mrs. Corbett had a closet she hid in and smoked. When she opened the curtain, smoke went everywhere.

I had Mrs. Corbett for 8th grade English. My dad, NHS grad 1938, also had Mrs. Corbett for English, when Central Jr High was the high school.

I had Mrs. Corbett for both 7th and 8th grade English. She made us memorize and recite all the grammer rules. One thing she could not stand was sunflower seeds in her class. If you came in and the person who occupied your seat had left sunflower seed hulls on the floor beneath you she would blame you for the mess. On the final day of school during the 8th grade we talked her into eating a sunflower seed. She stated "Is that all there is? It's hardly worth the effort."
